At Framna, we’re looking for a Senior Cloud & Backend Architect with deep experience in .NET and Azure who can take ownership of the bigger technical picture — from application architecture and infrastructure to scalability, resilience, security, and multi-region cloud setups.

You’ll be someone who can zoom in on a complex backend challenge, zoom out to understand how the whole system fits together, and make architectural decisions that create reliable, scalable, and maintainable products for the long term.

As our next Senior Cloud & Backend Architect, you’ll join our team in Stockholm, working alongside developers, designers, QA engineers, analysts, and product leads to take ideas from first sketch to live product.

You’ll play a key role in shaping the technical foundations behind the products we build, working across backend architecture, cloud infrastructure, scalability, security, and operations. Depending on the project, that might mean designing a new cloud architecture from the ground up, evolving an existing platform to handle significantly greater scale, or defining how services and infrastructure should operate reliably across multiple regions.

You’ll also become part of Framna’s wider engineering and cloud community across our studios — sharing knowledge, challenging technical assumptions, discussing architecture, and helping us continuously improve how we build.

And while we collaborate across locations, Stockholm is where you’ll call home. We’re looking for someone who genuinely enjoys being around their colleagues and wants the office to be a natural part of their working week.

What you’ll do

This is a senior architectural role for someone who enjoys taking ownership of complex technical systems and making decisions that hold up over time.

You’ll work across backend development, cloud architecture, infrastructure, and operations, with a particular focus on .NET and Microsoft Azure.

More specifically, you will:

• Design and evolve scalable backend and cloud architectures primarily using .NET and Microsoft Azure.

• Define technical architectures for products that need to remain reliable, performant, and maintainable as usage and complexity grow.

• Design cloud infrastructure with high availability, resilience, disaster recovery, and scalability in mind.

• Architect and implement multi-region solutions, considering areas such as data replication, failover, latency, availability, and regional dependencies.

• Make architectural decisions around services, APIs, databases, networking, messaging, caching, storage, and other cloud components.

• Help teams choose the right architectural patterns and level of complexity for the problem at hand.

• Identify technical risks, bottlenecks, and scaling challenges before they become problems in production.

• Work with infrastructure as code, deployment strategies, observability, monitoring, and operational readiness.

• Ensure security is considered throughout the architecture, from infrastructure and networking to identity, access, and application design.

• Collaborate closely with developers, product teams, and partners to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.

• Act as a senior technical advisor in client and project discussions, explaining architectural choices, trade-offs, and recommendations clearly.

• Mentor developers and engineers, lead technical discussions, and help raise the architectural capability of the teams around you.

Who you are

We imagine you have 10+ years of professional experience within backend engineering, cloud infrastructure, software architecture, or a combination of these, with substantial hands-on experience working with C#/.NET and Microsoft Azure.

At this level, we’re looking for more than deep technical knowledge. You’ve built enough systems, seen enough things go wrong, and made enough architectural decisions to understand the trade-offs behind them.

You know that good architecture isn’t about making something as sophisticated as possible. It’s about designing the right solution for the context — and making sure it can evolve when that context changes.

You might recognise yourself if you:

• Have deep professional experience with C#/.NET and Microsoft Azure.

• Have designed and owned architecture for complex, business-critical backend systems.

• Have strong experience with cloud infrastructure and distributed systems.

• Understand how to design systems for horizontal scaling, high availability, resilience, and fault tolerance.

• Have experience designing or operating multi-region cloud architectures and understand the trade-offs involved.

• Are comfortable making decisions around databases, APIs, networking, messaging, caching, identity, security, and cloud services.

• Understand infrastructure as code and modern approaches to CI/CD and cloud operations.

• Think beyond application code and consider the complete system, including infrastructure, observability, deployment, security, and operational support.

• Know how to evaluate architectural trade-offs around performance, complexity, cost, maintainability, and time to market.

• Can move comfortably between strategic architecture discussions and hands-on technical problem-solving.

• Are comfortable communicating complex technical decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Enjoy mentoring engineers and helping teams make stronger technical decisions.

• Take pride in building systems that are not only technically impressive, but genuinely dependable and easy to operate.
